The key fact
Almost all hotels and villas marketed as “Khao Yai” are in Pak Chong district, outside the national park. The park’s northern gate, at the top of Thanarat Road, is the main entrance and opens at 06:00.

Mu Si: for park lovers
If wildlife and waterfalls are the point of your trip, stay here. You’ll reach the gate quickly for 06:00 opening, and there’s plenty of choice for dinner afterwards. Kirimaya and its sister properties sit on Road 3052, and Nimman Khaoyai is also in Mu Si.
Pong Talong: for a resort escape
Quieter and more rural, Pong Talong suits travellers who plan to spend time at their resort. The InterContinental’s railway-themed villas and restaurants make it a destination in its own right.
Wang Kata and Wang Sai: for views and space
Hilltop and golf-course settings with big skies. Good for a “villa as destination” stay, with a slightly longer drive to the park.
Inside the national park
The park runs campsites, cabins and bungalows, which must be booked in advance through the park. They’re simple, but you wake up inside the forest. There are no luxury resorts inside the park.
