A romantic weekend in Khao Yai works best when you plan just enough and leave plenty of space for doing nothing. Here’s a two-night plan for couples, with swaps depending on your style.
Before you go
- Book a villa with privacy: a screened pool, a view and in-villa dining. Our romantic getaways guide lists the best options.
- Book a driver if you plan to taste wine or dine out at night.
- Reserve dinner for Saturday night, especially in the cool season.
- Tell the resort if you’re celebrating.
Friday: arrive and exhale
Leave Bangkok mid-afternoon on a weekday, or early to avoid Friday-evening traffic, which can add hours. Check in, swim, and have dinner on your terrace. Keep the first night slow.
Saturday: forest morning, vineyard afternoon
- Dawn: enter Khao Yai National Park as the gates open at 06:00. Watch the grasslands from an observation tower. Mist and wildlife make it unforgettable.
- Mid-morning: a short walk to Haew Suwat waterfall.
- Lunch: a tasting tour at PB Valley Khao Yai Winery and lunch at its Great Hornbill Grill.
- Afternoon: back to the villa for a nap, a swim and a couples’ massage.
- Evening: a special dinner, such as French dining in a railcar at Poirot or a hilltop table at sala khaoyai. See restaurants in Khao Yai.
Sunday: slow start, art and home
- Breakfast by your pool.
- Visit the Khao Yai Art Museum and its hilltop sculpture garden.
- Coffee at a design cafe on the way out, then head back before Sunday-afternoon traffic.
Swap it for your style
- Total rest: skip the park and spend Saturday at your villa and the spa.
- Adventure: add a guided forest trek and a ranger-run night spotlighting drive.
- Food: add a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand lunch at Krua Kampan in Mu Si.
Where to stay
For couples, we suggest a one-bedroom pool villa. Compare all options in our guide to luxury pool villas in Khao Yai.
